Mr. & Mrs. Smith - Brought to you by Gazz Wood  -

All of the latest ‘Hollywood’ films claim they offer ‘something different’. However they only make films that can cater for all audiences.

This means they all have some kind of tagged on love interest, or it’s a romance film with a couple of explosions thrown in for good measure. And there always has to be tonnes and tonnes of none stop idiotic humour. This way everyone’s happy, right?

Mr & Mrs Smith disguises itself as an action movie where the co-stars fall in love. Simple enough? Nothing new? True. That is until you actually see the film.

The plot is so simple it could have been written by a drunk CITV presenter on the back a peanut. The romance is fading in the Smith’s marriage because they both live secretive lives as contract killers.

When they’re hired to kill each other by their own (painfully obvious) companies. They instantly turn to paranoia. It’s only after trying to kill each other, ending in (another painfully ‘saw that coming’) love scene. In which they realise they do love each other after all, and gang up to take down their own companies in order to stay alive.

Inevitably, now being truthful and honest, they fall right back in love again.

With this it’s all about love striving against the odds, surviving adversity, and lots of explosives.

Mr & Mrs Smith offers a predictable, but pleasant romantic storyline. Excellent action sequences, especially the car chase (Doug Liman’s speciality), and some of Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie’s best comedy moments.
