Monty Python Marathon - Brought to you by Ben Jarrett -

The Hyde Park Picture House (ironically in Hyde Park) was showing three Monty Python films (ironically called the Monty Python Triple Bill). Myself, Youd, Gemma, James, Pete, Nathan and Gazz, possibly hoping for the back row together, bought tickets well in advance to avoid disappointment, and because the tickets were cheaper than on the day. Jordan however decided to leave it till the day and having to pay full price but, did get his ticket a couple of hours in advance. In addition to this the guy told him not to lose his ticket and, which of course he did before he'd even left the cinema. At 22:00 we met outside the cinema to enter but as Jordan did not have a ticket they wouldn’t let him in.

Lucky we got a row with enough seats to fit us all in together, because the cinema was very full and what it was very full with was dick heads. Throughout the adverts and trailers Gazz kept recognising kids and I started to get ever so slightly concerned about this. The triple bill started with ‘The Holy Grail’ which, in my own opinion, is the best Monty Python film. It was great watching it on the big screen apart from the twat in the row in front who was laughing hysterically and cheering throughout. We had a fifteen minute break before the next film which was enough for fresh air and a slash. Next shown was ‘The Life of Brian’, my least favourite, and the twat in front decided to sing along to the theme tune. Later through this screening he collapsed on the seat asleep but I’m probably not the only one hoping that he was dead.

There was another break where Gemma called it a night, shortly followed by Nathan heading back to the House of Trouser! The lightweights! OK it was nearly half two in the morning but there was still one more film to go. When returning back to our seats the auditorium itself did look a lot emptier than it did four and half hours ago. The people left didn’t look as perky either. ‘The Meaning of Life’ was next and, as a sketch show style film, was a good light one to end on.

At four in the morning it came to an end and we all (who was left) parted ways and went home. Overall, I enjoyed the evening and watching the films on a big screen is definitely worth the effort of staying up half the night.
