Students love Neighbours. It's a simple fact of life. We love the comedy drama, we love forced emotion and above all we love the characters.
Everyone has their favourite. Mine is Stingray, Thommy's is Darcy. However most agree that there are several Leg.Ends within the cast. Harold Bishop, Toadie, Lou Carpenter and our man of the hour, Dr Karl Kennedy. Tonight we see him and his band, Waiting Room, play live at Walkabout and we couldn't be happier. It's such an event that we're shipping people in especially.
TheWorm's brother Andrew (hence forth to be referred to as TheWorm II) came from Sheffield with his mate Kevin just to see Alan Fletcher (the actor who plays Karl, just so you know). As well as a Neighbour's Leg.End, we were joined by LMU Leg.Ends Roon and Tori, along with their mates Mike, Eddie, Andy, Lindsay, Anna, Tracy, Doug and his girlfriend. Plenty of folk to enjoy the music of the good Doctor.
Unfortunately the one man who would enjoy this the most, Thommy, couldn't make it because of his new job. Sorry chief, it wasn't the same without you.
We got a couple of drinks in us then positioned ourselves strategically around the stage as best we could, to get the best angle. When the band came on the crowd went banana, and they played some cracking covers which included Blur's Song 2, Hey Jude, Paradise City by Guns N Roses and Three Lions in tribute to the winning Liverpool team.
Kevin climbed onto a bottle bank and got so close that the guitarist (not Fletch) took his Digicam off him and used it to get video of The Fletch singing close up. We'll have that video on here as soon as possible, for you to enjoy.
All in all Karl Kennedy night was enjoyable, even when having queued for 45 minutes to meet him I got close to the front only to find he'd gone home and it was over. Over for me, but not for Worm II who's eagle eye spotted Dr Karl outside his hotel, and managed to get a picture with him.
