Dead Night - Brought to you by Gazz Wood -

During the summer holiday period here in Leeds, the majority of students will go back to the cities which spawned them, leaving our spiritual home nigh on empty. They filter back over the summer months but it is a slow process.

This does rather make going out a bit of a babyshambles, because every single bar is staffed and open but none of them have any customers in. No one wants to be the only guy sitting in a deserted bar/club, so the places remain empty. People attract people.

On this occasion our night out was a spontaneous one, born mostly of our not wanting to be in the house by virtue of it being a mud beehive, as well as the temptations of having one off the wrist, and thus losing The Contest. The scheme, get a couple of bars and have one or two drinks.

We did exactly this. Library first, for the cheap Scream Pub option, but there were no more than 7 people in the entire place and it's shine pretty quickly wore off. Long walk to Bar Risa, which was dead. Hard Rock Cafe was dead. Tiger Tiger was dead. Bourbon? Dead.

Walkabout?

Was it finally time to test James' barring from the Ozzy hide out, which he incurred for drinking water after The Breeze's costume birthday? They weren't charging on the door like last time, so it really was our only viable option. James avoided eye contact with the staff by getting Youd to buy his drink while he himself sheened on to the toilets. There were actually several people in there, but during the half hour or so of our stay they all left, piece by piece, until only we occupied the fairly large venue.

In the end the staff's subtle hints (Turning on the lights, turning off the music) eventually got through to us and we left.

It will not be easy, if things continue this way, to keep events in the town coming. It looks like house party season may be upon us.
